ConFluence’s mission is to build creative, inclusive, and liberating spaces for BIPOC nerds where everyone can feel connected, inspired, and seen. Through both free and ticketed events, ConFluence offers diverse communities opportunities to foster relationships, learn skills, share interests, exhibit and sell work, and engage in interactive play. 

Our largest event is a 2-day convention in Northeast Minneapolis, Minnesota celebrating art, sci-fi, futurisms, and fantasy centered on content by and for Black people, Indigenous people, and people of color. The ConFluence convention features cosplay (costuming), creative workshops, panels, an art and vendor marketplace, gaming, special industry guests, youth activities, a dance party, and an art exhibition. The ConFluence convention is made possible by the support of over a hundred volunteers, including the ConFluence Planning Team which is made up of local artists, cosplayers, gamers, and organizers.

Our inaugural convention event in 2023 saw over 500 attendees, with the majority identifying from BIPOC communities. ConFluence platforms the contributions of BIPOC creatives, while also making visible the BIPOC nerdy community. The content and topics explored in our events broaden our collective understanding of what is possible through representation, collaboration, imagination, and world building.
